Interfaith Minister

There are many different paths to God. Each contains beauty, wisdom and truth. As an Interfaith Minister, Reverend Karen, appreciates and celebrates the diversity of these paths while focusing on that which is universal in spiritual teaching.

The appreciation and celebration of diversity, along with the focus on universal spiritual truths are the foundation upon which Reverend Karen has created her community healing ministry. Appreciation and the embracing of diversity is reflected in the sacred ceremonies, the Playshops and Worship Services that she creates and performs, as well as in the grief and empowerment counseling and reiki sessions.

Grief Counseling

Alan Wolfet, Ph.D., describes grief as the constellation of internal thoughts and feelings we have when someone we love dies. It is the internal meaning to the experience of loss. Mourning is taking the grief you have on the inside and expressing it outside of yourself. Mourning is ‘grief gone public’ or the outward expression of grief.”

Grief and the need to mourn are also present when we experience a major change or the ending of something we have been attached to. Grief and the need to mourn are normal responses to:

Grieving is a process that impacts our whole being; effecting us physically, emotionally, cognitively, and spiritually. We each have our own process and it is through doing our grief work that the healing unfolds.

Western culture, overall tends to avoid talking about death, dying and to a grieving person because of fear and not knowing what to say to someone. People who are grieving can feel alone, isolated or “not normal” because “they are not over it yet.”

Grief counseling with Reverend Karen, is an opportunity to be in a safe place where you can expect a compassionate presence, deep listening, reflective questions, intuitive guidance and years of experiencing companioning others through their grieving process.

What are Chakras? - Reverend Karen Judd

What are Chakras?

The color filled circles depicted in the center of the open hands are symbolic of the seven major chakras in the human body.

The word chakra, comes from the Sanskrit language, meaning, wheel, disk or vortex. A healthy chakra vibrates evenly in a circular motion, similar to a funnel that is narrow close to the body becoming wider as it gets further out. Each chakra is linked with specific parts of the body and to systems within the body. When a chakra is blocked, damaged or closed, then the health connected to that body part and system is affected.

Whenever problems are not dealt with, the energy from this can build up and remain within the energy field of the chakra and after sometime, the disruption and blocking in the correct flow of energy begins distorting its shape. The blockages can build up until the chakra becomes deformed and illness can occur in the associated body part or system. These illnesses are 'messages' from the body to help us to become aware where are out of balance in our lives so we can make constructive changes.

Playshops by Reverend Karen Judd

Playshops

Playshops are workshops, providing adults the opportunity to come together and re-connect and expand their imagination and creativity through drama games, music, and movement. These Playshops are designed to free-up self expression and spontaneity; to have fun.

As we "grow-up and mature" the child within us can get ignored, put into isolation and or locked away for safe keeping. As time unfolds we become aware that our life is out of balance- the scale weighed down with being responsible, pragmatic, efficient; handling the tasks of everyday living.

There is satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment that is received from this way of living and yet at a deep level we know intuitively that we desire more. We want more fun, laughter, playtime, that doesn't involve a sport, alcohol or drugs.

Meet Karen

Karen S. Judd is an ordained Interfaith Minister, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and Reiki Master. She is a graduate of the One Spirit Interfaith Seminary in New York City, received her Master of Science degree from Columbia University School of Social Work, is a Usui Shiki Reiki Ryoho Reiki MasterReiki Master, received her certificate from the Hudson Valley Psychodrama Institute and her certificate in Playback Theatre from Vassar College.

I knew that my ministry was to be community based, focused on healing and honoring of the major milestones in people’s lives. In addition, I knew my ministry would incorporate creativity and be designed to integrate what I enjoy doing, with my calling of being service to others.

My life has been a journey of healing and transformation. The process began with relearning about feelings, accepting and expressing them in healthy ways. Next came redefining God for myself, learning about the metaphysical and developing a personal relationship with God. This was followed by learning how to experience a conscious relationship with my body and be present in the moments. Discovering the relationship between my thoughts, feelings and the wellness of my body. Learning more about love, compassion, acceptance and serenity in my relationship with myself and others.

This learning was done through loving and compassionate relationships with wise teachers, therapists, healers, psychodramatist trainers and group members. For it is in relationships we are wounded and in relationships we are healed. It is my life's purpose, to walk with others on this path of mutual healing and transformation.

My goal for my clients is that they too will experience healing and transformation in their lives through the therapeutic relationship that is created in our work together.

Honoring of the major milestones in our life is so important and to have a ceremony that reflects the people for whom it is for is of great importance to me. This seed was planted when I was child when I attended several different funerals, my classmate’s parents and sibling. They were services given from different faith traditions and I was moved by the one given in the Jewish faith. This was the only one that honored the life of the person who had died, captured their essence; making a lasting impression on me.

In creating sacred ceremonies for people, my goal is to capture the essence of the couple, the deceased, or what it is the parents want to give to their child.

If you take any step, no matter how small it is, toward achieving your dreams then you will surely find the right path and reach the abundance that is in store for you.

- Stephen Richards, Think Your Way to Success

When we share the particular gifts that we have been given, we free our life force...If we were born with a song in our heart, then we must sing it; if there is a vision in our soul, then we must live it.

When we express fully that we are, we participate in the flow of life. We are not meant to sit on the side lines... We are meant to be vehicles through which our spirits can flow outward to life.

"We wanted to create a sacred environment with our own spiritual ideals in mind. Working with Reverend Karen Judd allowed us the freedom and provided us with the insight to do so. Her spiritual knowledge thoroughly enhanced the ceremonial bond that we wished to perform at our wedding. Our guests were very impressed with the beautiful ceremony that Karen helped create as we received several compliments afterwards.”

"My finance and I hired Karen to perfom our wedding. She spent time getting to know us, our commitment to each other, what was unique about our relationship, and what we wanted for our day of celebration. She was open to our very eclectic ceremony – set in nature with pieces of christian, jewish, yogic and pagan traditions. She wore a beautiful orange sari which added to the atmosphere. Karen was very intentional and deliberate about staying close to opur guidance and delivered her piece with grace and humor. I highly recommend Karen for her depth, thoughtfulness, attention to detail and how she holds the sacred moments.”
